- Patent technology for evolving virtual reality sports
- It has been long that popularizing virtual reality sports such as screen golf, which is unaffected by weather, is accessible and can be enjoyed at a low cost. As derivative markets are formed with various sports such as baseball, cycling and soccer, the total size of virtual reality sports market is expected to continue to grow. Patent technologies used in virtual reality sports provide advanced IT technologies such as AR (Augmented Reality) and VR (Virtual Reality) by using HMD (Head Mounted Displays). These technologies are mainly used to increase visual immersion among users. Also, virtual tennis using artificial intelligence technology stands out. This makes the users feel like they are playing a real game by controlling the launcher and the visual system according to users' propensity and ability based on what is learned by sensing the users' motion. "Through the 'virtual reality sports room', which is expanded and operated by elementary schools, it has become easily accessible from low grade. And market demand is expected to expand by raising awareness of 'work and life balance'. To preempt the related markets, it is necessary to develop technologies that can take virtual reality sports to another level by converging with other high-tech fields." said Kim Yong-jung, KIPO (Korean Intellectual Property Office) official. - OBs of the Basketball Team of SKKU Had a Meaningful Event.
- The alumni of Sungkyunkwan University's basketball team had a meaningful event. It marked the first time that senior OB players gathered in one place to cheer for YB juniors and forge harmony ahead of the 2019 KUSF University Basketball U-League match between Chung-ang Univ. and Sungkyunkwan Univ. at the Suseonggwan of the Natural Science Campus at Sungkyunkwan University on 23 May. The event was created by alumni, Kim Bum-joon (class of 1999, College of Sport Science), Lee Hyun-jun (a strategy analyst), and Lee Heung-bae (a coaching step). Sungkyunkwan University founded the basketball team in 1946. It has been called the "Dark Horse" since Kim Sang-jun took the helm, leaving behind the past time when it was called a continuous last-place candidate among university basketball teams. It finished third in the university league in 2018 and won its second straight title at the National Championship. While the team is solidifying its position as a prestigious team, it has arranged a place for seniors to unite with their juniors. After the game, they prepared a table and talked about the operation of the alumni association. "I hope to have meetings with my seniors and juniors often in the future," said Kim Beom-joon. "Also, OB players will continue to work hard if there is anything they can do to help the basketball team," he added. - Why did Lee Sang-gi take off his uniform?
- Lee Sang-gi(32), CEO of QMIT, is a former professional soccer goalkeeper. In order to improve the unfair reality felt in the field from the fifth grade of elementary school to professional days for 20 years, he created an IT company QMIT (Question Management Information Technology) is a company that provides efficient team management platforms to players and leaders in order to reduce the limitations in sports field. While studying in the department of sports science at Sungkyunkwan University, he heard a very well-organized theory of sports science. But the theory and the field were too far apart. "It is solution that provides prevention and prediction of player injury and condition management. It is a kind of monitoring service that records everything about players and provides them to players and leaders. It provides the team with the necessary video clips and trains players. Unlike in the past, it would systematically manage players and teams and provide information.” Sungkyunkwan University, which won this spring's university soccer championship, also used team manager. Sungkyunkwan University was evaluated as being objectively behind Chung-Ang University in the final, but it won 2-1. Currently, 30 elite amateur teams use the service. The CEO is currently focusing on soccer, but plans to expand the service to other sports as well. BY Yang jong-gu, DONG-A ILBO (source: http://news.donga.com/3/all/20190330/94808932/1)
